Summer Olympics

Here is an update on the Olympics:

Archery-  The US team brought home silver in archery. We beat South Korea which forced them to either get bronze, or no medal at all. Unfortunately, we lost against Italy, and the score was 218 and 219. It was very close. To see the full update on the olympics, you can go to http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1276220-olympic-archery-2012-complete-results-analysis-more. There you will see much more information.

Swimming: No one thought this would happen on the 400 im. Phelps and Lochte went head to head with each other. Disappointment for Phelps, and happiness for Lochte. Michael Phelps barely made it to the qualifying round. The 400 im was one of Michael’s best swimming races. You would think that Phelps would win, but not totally. It was Lochte who won gold. Phelps however placed 4th!!! Some people now think that Lochte will be the superstar in the 2012 olympic games.

Women’s Gymnastics: After the fab 5 made it to the Olympics, they turned into the fierce 5. Jordyn Weiber, McKayla Maroney, Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, and Kyla Ross went to the olympics strong. As some of you may know, Aly Raisman upsetted Jordyn Weiber. Jordyn recovered and helped the US on their way to a gold medal. Aly Raisman’s floor routine, the last routine for the US, Gave anxiaty to their minds. Were they going to beat Russia? With all their hopes, and holding on to each other, they got gold.  They compete thier individual events today. McKayla Maroney’s stunning vault with a stick, and not that many deductions, they ended their vault rotation excellent. ALy Raisman got first place on the floor exercise, after a disappointment on the all around, she came back strong.

Men’s Gymnastics: After the olympic trials, the mens team representing the USA headed off to London. It included one man that is from Nevada. His name is Jake Dalton. He was very powerful on the vault, and stong on the floor. His family, teammates, and coaches were all there to support him. Unfortunately the mens team got 5th place, and Jake Dalton got fifth on the floor exercise.

Beach volleyball: April Ross and Jen Kessey went against Misty May Trenor, and Kerry Walsh Jennings. Jennings and Trenor won first, Kessy and Ross got second, and then Brazil.
